I hope someone reads this and at least gets you to look at it. My name Is Sergio. My father was an acquaintance of your mom & dad in the 40's. His stage name was Sergio DeKarlo (his greatest fame was the composer on the song Flores Negras among many others). Way back when Desi & your mom were just starting out my dad was playing houses in New York. As the story goes, Desi was working as a singer (I think, or an actor in stage play's like Too Many Girls, which is one of the plays my dad was in) and my dad was on the same circuit. Your mom (Lucy) frequented these places and had taken a liking to my dad. Desi apparently was not happy about that and stepped it up in courting your mom. My dad had dated Lucy a couple of times but when him and Desi confronted about it my dad decided to give her up and concentrate on the shows instead. He went on to make music and spanish language movies. He also opened a night club in Pasadena called the Danzon (reminisces of the painted sign on the side of the building is still there) that I think your mom & dad went to once. There is ever so much more to the story. He told me several times, on how Lucy was almost my mother. Currently he is still alive at 95 years old and even has a contract with a small Bolero company. Our family has many pictures and such of that era. it would be really cool to exchange any information you may have about Desi (or even your mom) telling you about this time in their lives. Maybe even mentioning my dad as a rival. He is in failing health but still has pretty good recollection. You may even have some unanswered questions about your parents he may be able to answer. From what he says, he knew them farly well. Hope to hear from you soon.
